The desire to create, to make, to move one’s body in unison with one’s heart, informed by the limitless mind is the intention that drives my image-making. Currently, I am exploring the form of flowers. The profound beauty of flowers inspires me, both its surface and its structural beauty. I see infinite interpretations, from a single stem to a swath of flowers that completely captivates the eye in a natural landscape.
Flowers are a symbolic form in society. We use them as symbols to communicate our most profound emotions to one another. They serve as heralds of the seasons, and as reminders of the fleeting nature of our own existence. I love the endless shades of green. I become keenly aware of the cycle of life as I observe flowers … budding, then brilliant, heavy with perfection as they begin to wither slowly with seeming intent. They make me equally aware of their presence in death just as they did in glorious life.
I am unknowing today of where my exploration of beauty will take me, but I look to flowers as graceful guides on that journey.
